On January 23, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Gabrielius Landsbergis.

According to the press service of the leader of the Belarusian democratic forces, during the meeting the situation with the legalization of Belarusians in Lithuania was discussed. They also talked about possible new restrictions that will be discussed in the Lithuanian Seimas in the spring.

Tsikhanouskaya thanked Lithuania for the decision to extend the term of humanitarian residence permits for Belarusians from one to three years.

However, she urged Lithuania not to equalize restrictions on Belarusians and Russians, as this would only play into the hands of the Lukashenka regime. Tsikhanouskaya also hopes that Lithuania will continue to issue visas and residence permits to Belarusians.

She conveyed the proposals of the Office, the Joint Transitional Cabinet and the NAM on the issues of accountability of Lukashenka's regime and sanctions against its accomplices.

As Euroradio reported earlier, Poland and the Baltic states are proposing to equalize sectoral sanctions against Belarus and Russia.
