Haidukevich: I am 100% confident that opposition will unite with Lukashenka against me

Liberal Democratic Party leader Sergei Haidukevich tells the European Radio for Belarus about his roots, why he sanctified the lists of his promotion group and why he does not want to unite with anyone, and has shared a secret of how he is planning to win. ERB: Who is your main competitor for this election?

Haidukevich: Lukashenka. The rest… I don't want to hurt you, but who really knows them? If you disconnet your internet, nobody will recall their names without the help of the internet. I just think all these guys will collect signatures and then will start selling them to each other. I can't understand who will come to the square, since all the names are unknown. It's a pitty that Milinkevich is not running. He was such a good opposition candidate. They have lost their good chance! I don't known if someone needed that to happen. Now they have started attacking me in the internet. But, the main thing is they should not unite with Lukashenka against me. Some say he is for independence. I will not be surprised to see them in sided with Lukashenka against me. I am 100 percent sure! But, it's okay with me. Let them get 1.5 percent of votes! Well done! They really want to advance into the run-off. Let them organize the run-off between themselves. I will not speak about percentage. One says he will get 51 percent; another one -- 50 percent, another -- 30 percent. Where will they get enough voters? I'll say like this: I couildn't care less about the administrative resource. The people of Belarus is my only hope. I am not going to unite with anyone, because there is no one to unite with. I am set to compete with the incumbent at full scale!

ERB: Other politicians promise to take people to the square on December 19. Do you plan your own square?

H: They claim they will come to the square. How many times have they walked to the square over the past 10 years? Give me an example when there were tens of thousand people there... I will say again that I put my hopes on Belarusian people, voters. With God's help, they will support me.

ERB: It will be your third presidential campaign. Do you expect it to become your success?

H: How do I look? Not bad enough to compete? Only God knows. When I was coming here (to Central Election Commission), a priest blessed all of us. I am an Orthodox Christian. I am a truly Belarusian royalty. My grandfather received a coat of arms in 1700. His name is Andrzej Haidukevich. I was taught by my predecessors that sidereal hour does not come when you order it to come, but it will come. You just need to be patient. I don't know when it comes.

ERB: You have sanctified the lists of your nomination group in church. Will this scare away the devil from Central Election Commission?

H: I am a believer and did what a believer had to do. I came to the church and asked for blessing. I think I just fulfilled my duty.

ERB: Do you trust Yarmoshyna when she said she was not engaged in politics?

H: I don't trust anyone! I only trust my people and myself. My grandgrandfather used to say: "Get your horse and fight. You should trust only your Motherland, people and yourself”. Why should I trust anyone elese? If I listen to everyone, what kind of leader am I? Let them talk. I have a goal and tasks that I will be accomplishing by any means! You will see soon.

ERB: Will you take use of dirty technologies during this election campaign?

H: I think there will be a full package of various opinions against me soon. They want to use any means to remove Haidukevich from the presidential campaign

ERB: Do you count on debates with Lukashenka on the state television?

H: It's up to him. Let Nyaklyaeu dream about the debates. I will say: if he (Lukashenka) wants, you are welcome. If not, I should not beg for debates!

ERB: Will Russia support Haidukevich?

H: You should pose this questions to Russians. But, there is no a pro-Kremlin candidate here. It can't be, but nobody understands this. There can be a man who expresses an opinion that is close to the Russian leadership and Belarusian citizens.

ERB: Will Vladimir Zhirinovksy come to support you during elections?

H: I wouldn't want it. Vladimir Wolfovich will not want, either. He knows perfectly well that there is no need to render help to me. I don't suffer from helplessness. We are a strong party and we have a very strong candidate. We don't need anyone! We will sort it out here with Belarusian citizens.
