Youth activist Andrei Kim faces up to 6 years in prison over "small incident"

The trial of 10 participants of the January 2008 protest actions in the Belarusian capital will resume on Friday at 10 a.m. at Minsk's Central District Court. The court today examined the written materials of the case. The judge also questioned the last remaining prosecution witnesses. Human rights defender Alena Tkachova commented on today's proceedings as follows:

"Andrei Kim is facing up to 6 years in prison. The last prosecution witness who testified on the episode associated with Andrei Kim was Alyaksei Korzyuk.

When commenting on what happened during the protest action, he said that "a small incident" had taken place. When demonstrators were walking, someone (in his view it was Kim) punched him. Kim could get 6 years for this "small incident".
