Vіctor Yanukovіch catches up with Yulia Timoshenko

After 65,17% of votes of the Sunday parliamentary elections in Ukraine have been counted, it turned out that the numeral superiority of the right block of Yulia Timoshenko passed on to the Party of Regions of the Prime Minister Yanukovich.
According to Interfax-Ukraina, Timoshenko’s block was supported by 32.79% of voters while the Party of Regions – by 31.24%. The block “Our Ukraine-People’s self-defence” supporting the President Yushchenko got 15.41% of votes.

62% of Ukrainians took part in the Sunday election. According to the Central Election Commission, the final results will be announced on Monday evening.

The previous parliamentary election took place in Ukraine on March 26, 2006. The Party of Regions got 32% of votes and won. President Yushchenko had to dissolve the Parliament in April after the coalition of the Prime Minster Yanukovich was accused of corruption.
