Trial concerning suit of Baranavichy entrepreneur against state district newspaper is postponed again

The hearing of the suit brought by an entrepreneur Mikalai Charnavus against the district executive committee’s newspaper “Our Land” and its reporter Mikalai Hudenka has been postponed again in Baranavichy.
Hudenka described Charnavus and his activities in an insulting way in one of the editions’ issues. The reason for it was the fact that Charnavus had asked the Ukrainian Embassy, Victor Yushchenko and Yuliya Tsimoshenko to organize wholesale markets at the Belarusian border to make the work of Belarusian entrepreneurs a bit easier.

The court has already postponed the hearing in connection with the fact that Hudenka was on vacations. The judge Iryna Kulbeda has put off the hearing again on September 8. It will take place on September 30. Being a deputy contender at the coming parliamentary elections, Charnavus thinks that the court has postponed the trial to prevent him from making speeches during the election campaign.
