Think tank on Belarus opened in US

The Center for Belarusian Studies has been opened at the South-West College in Winfield, Kansas, the United States.

Ivonka Survila, the chairwoman of the Council of the Belarusian People's Republic, and Stanislau Shushkevich, the former speaker of the Supreme Council of Belarus, were invited to give ahead to the launch. The flags of EU, US, Canada and a white-red-white Belarusian flag were raised during the function.

The center's goal is to help US-based researchers study the history and the present of Belarus. It will also offer scholarhips to Belarus scientists.

Radio Svaboda reports that the center has publiushing plans. A library and a video archive have been opened at the center.
