Thailand drops charges against IL-76 cargo plane crew
Thai prosecutor's office has decided to drop charges against the crew of IL-76 cargo plane that was impounded in Bangkok with weaons originated from North Korea, reports Gazeta ru, citing Bangkok post. The official statement is expected on Friday.
The crew, comprising four Kazakhstan nationals and one citizen of Belarus -- flight engineer Mikhail Pastukhov -- was arrested on December 12 in the Thai capital. They were charged with illegal possession of weapons and explosives. Under the Thai laws, the pilots could have been sentenced to life in prison or death penalty.
