Sulphuric acid spilled in Lahoysk district

50 liters of sulphuric acid were spilled on Saturday morning in the Lahoysk district, after a truck carrying 4.5 tons of the hazardous liquid slipped off the road.
“The spill covered the area of 3 square meters. The crashed vehicle could not be used to transport the cargo. The accident was caused by bad weather conditions and a slippery road when the driver failed to control his truck", Emergencies Ministry spokesman Vital Navitski told the European Radio for Belarus.

Navitski noted that rescuers successfully cleaned up the affected area. The accident posed no threat to environment and public health, Navitski said.
