Strangers attack BRYU picket and tear Lukashenka’s portrait apart in Homel

Two strangers attacked participants of the picket in support of a presidential candidate Alyaksandr Lukashenka in Homel on December 10.
BelaPAN informs that the incident occurred in the centre of the city. Pickets in support of democratic candidates Vital Rymasheuski, Mikalai Statkevich, Andrei Sannikau and Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu were lined near the “Homel” supermarket. A picket organized by BRYU members in support of Lukashenka was situated nearby.

A drunk man saw a portrait of Lukashenka and headed for the picket. He spat at BRYU activists at first. Then a drunk friend of his approached and the man turned over the plastic stand. A portrait of the current President fell out of it. One of the attackers picked it up, tore it apart and said: “He does not let us live”.

The picketers called the police but the attackers managed to flee. Policemen are patrolling the area near Lukashenka’s picket all the time in order to prevent similar incidents now.
