Russian scientist accused of treason

Ex-employee of the Russian Federal Nuclear Centre in Sarov (Russia’s Nizhni Novgorod Oblast) Vladimir Golubev has been accused of revealing a state secret.

The reason for the arrest was the publication of his scientific report made at a conference in the Czech Republic in 2013, his lawyer Evgeni Gubin said. The scientist is a specialist in explosives and made a report on them.

Golubev’s flat was searched and information carriers were confiscated.

The scientist is facing up to four years of imprisonment. By the way, Golubev was fired from the nuclear centre in 2013 and he is a pensioner now.
