Rosatom" wants to build a second nuclear power plant in Belarus. Director of the Belarusian office of the Russian state corporation Stanislav Levitsky spoke about it at the "Festival of Science" in Minsk.

"Belarus is considering the possibility of building a second nuclear power plant. We are always ready to lend a helping hand," he said. "If Belarusian partners want to build a second nuclear power plant, given our cooperative ties and synergies, we are ready to participate".

Rosatom was engaged in the construction of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant in Astravets. The erection of the plant was accompanied by scandals. Last year, the reactor was shut down for six months instead of the planned two.

In addition to the second nuclear power plant, Rosatom is targeting the construction of a research reactor in Belarus. The final decision on the realization of this project will be made after negotiations with the Academy of Sciences and state authorities.
