“Rock-Wheel” takes a break and transforms into “Polatsk writing-book”

One of the oldest and most popular Belarusian rock festivals “Rock Wheel” has taken a break to find its new format. The ideologist of the festival Syarhei Anishchanka has told ERB about it:

Syarhei Anishchanka: “We have not decided to refuse from the traditional “Rock Wheel”. The festival “Rock Wheel” has taken a break and we are looking for its new format now”.

To avoid doing nothing, the steering committee of “Rock Wheel” is working on the new idea and will organize a new festival of folk music “Polatsk writing-book” with the help of Polatsk City Executive Committee on February 21. Syarhei Anishchanka thinks that the festival will become a tradition:

Syarhei Anishchanka: “We would like the festival to become a tradition in Polatsk area. If this festival is good and if people like it, then we will continue working on it like on “Rock Wheel”.

The organizers also think the festival will become a participant of the dialogue of cultures and a festival of peoples of the world able to demonstrate the music of different nations to Belarusians.

According to Anishchnka, the most popular Belarusian bands will take part in the festival this year - “Palats”, “Akana-NHS”, “Nagual'”, “Stary Olsa” and the laureate of the last “Rock Wheel” – a Russian band “Abviotura”:
Syarhei Anishchanka: “People keep asking us: “Is it true that “Palats” will be there? Is it true that “Stary Olsa” will come? Its it true that Rusya has started signing? We have chosen the most interesting”.
The February event will not result in any prizes or nominations; however, a contest may appear in the future.

The general sponsors of the event are MTS, “Belsplat” limited company and a civil and cultural campaign “Let’s Be”. Let us remind you that the festival “Polatsk writing-book” will take place in Polatsk City Palace of Culture on February 21 at 7 p.m.
