Road police: Raised speed limit had no effect on accident stats

On October 10, in some areas of the Minsk ring road, as well as national and regional roads, the speed limit was increased to up to 100 and 120 km/h. As the head of the republican road police, Yury Litvin told Euroradio on the telephone, the innovation did not lead to the increase in road accidents:

Litvin: "We conducted a proper monitoring and found that there was no significant increase in car and road accidents after the introduction of new speed limits. Everything remains the way it was before the introduction of restrictions."

Speed limits in Belarus were increased on roads R-1, M-1 / E 30, M-4, M-5, M-6.
