Riga inhabitants are shown KGB torture cells

The public was shown the former KGB office in Bryvibas Street, Riga for the last time on Friday. Journalists had an opportunity to see confinement cells that functioned till May 31, 2008, Moreover, cells that had not been used for many years and the vault that was used to torture people were demonstrated. A NovoNews reporter visited the place. 

Journalists were shown cells prisoners were kept in. The shower room was covered in fungus – even repairs did not help. The store-house in the vault drew most of journalists’ attention – it used to be a punishment-cell. Prisoners were locked in 1x1 meter rooms. KBG members tortured them in the vault. According to the personnel, there was a ghost visiting the former torture rooms. However, journalists did not believe it. For photos of punishment and torture rooms, see  novonews.lv
