Residents sue Minsk Metro over land, houses

Courts in Minsk began hearing cases associated with the land plots located on the new route of the Minsk Metro. The metro officials are trying to evict the citizens who demand an equal compensation for their lost property.
Initially, the owners of private houses to be demolished for the construction of new underground stations were promised to receive new houses. But after people signed agreements, the rules of the game began to change.

It turns out that Minsk City Hall has no possibilities to offer new houses to those people and told them to settle in apartments. While some have agreed, some residents went to courts seeking to preserve their plots.

The Minsk Metro has filed motions to courts seeking to evict stubborn landlords. Preliminary hearings have brought about no results so far.
