Yak-42 carrying HC “Lokomotiv” crashes in Yaroslavl. UPDATED

17.57 Hockey players Ruslan Salei and Syarhei Astapchuk were on board the plane that crashed near Yaroslavl.  BelTA informs about it referring to the Russian Emergency Control Ministry. Russian rescuers have stressed that the hockey players’ names were on the list of passengers. However, they are not on the list of victims at the moment.

17.28 According to unconfirmed information, there is a chance that Ruslan Salei was not on board the plane that crashed near Yaroslavl. Chempionat.com notes that the hockey player could be waiting for the team in Minsk.

The Yak-42 crashed two kilometers away from the airport Tuloshin in Yaroslavl. The plane was heading for Minsk from Yaroslavl for a match. There were 37 people on board including four crew members. One survivor has been reported. The other 36 people were killed.
The reason for the plane crash is being investigated. Rescuers and representatives of other operative services are heading for the crash site.

The match between Yaroslavl “Lokomotiv” and Minsk “Dynama” had to be played on September 8. There are two Belarusian hockey players in the Russian club – Ruslan Salei and Syarhei Astapchuk. It is not clear whether they were on board or not.
