Wiegand: EU may expand sanctions against the official Minsk

According to his words reported by RIA Novosti, such step may be taken in response to continuation of repressions against the political opponents of the Belarusian authorities.

The diplomat thinks that release of ex-presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau and his ally Zmitser Bandarenka is not enough to start making the relations between Belarus and the European Union better. Wiegand does not exclude that the EU may add new people to the list of persons prohibited to enter the territory of the European Union.

Let us remind you, the "black list" of the Belarusian officials and entrepreneurs contain 243 people at the moment.

According to the information of the Brussels magazine EUobserver, the EU may include entrepreneur Alyaksandr Mashenski who is suspected in rendering financial support to the Belarusian regime and getting profits from this, into the list.
