September 18 - Day of forestry industry's worker
Forest is one of the most important nature resources of Belarus at present moment. Forest fund makes 9,4 mln HA, or two fifth of the country's territory.
Conifer species prevail in Belarus. Almost one fourth of all forests are specially planted and grown by forestry specialists. Thanks to the work of these people about 30 million cubic meters of wood grow annually. There are 0,8 HA of land covered with forest and more than 160 cubic meters of wood stock per person in our country. This is twice higher than in Europe in average.
