Russia cuts down shipments of electric power to Belarus twice

Russia has limited shipments of electric power to Belarus because of the debt - a source in the "Inter RAO" company, the Russian exporter of electric power, informed to RIA Novosti. The limitation will make 200-300 MVt, the agency's vis-a-vis has said. On the whole, Russia used to ship 400-500 MVt.

The Belarusian side failed to transfer the money for the electric power already shipped by Russia,  a source in the "Inter RAO" company informed. According to non-official information, Belarus owes about 54 million dollars for the energy shipped in March-April. According to the agency's vis-a-vis, the Russian company has already informed Belarus that the scope of electric power shipments will be decreased since June 9.

Let us remind you, assistant of Minister of Energetic of Belarus Liudmila Ziankovich informed yesterday that the Belarusian side had an intention to solve the problems with electric power shipments from Russia as soon as possible.

According to the information provided by the newspaper "Commersant", limitation of shipments will be in force for 10 days, and the shipments may be stopped after June 19, in case the parties do not agree upon payment of the debt.

"Belenergo" administration claim they have addressed to the government asking for assistance in buying currency to pay the debt, interfax.by informs.
