Only one place for mass actions available in Mahilyou
Human rights activists are going to lodge a complaint to the UN Human Rights Committee in connection with it.
Mahilyou Province Court has not allowed Mahilyou opposition members’ appeal today, on July 6. The court has decided that the City Executive Committee has the right to assign places for mass events.
Local democrats wanted to increase the number of such places. They wanted to announce the Executive Committee’s refusal to allow pickets in the centre of the city in March illegal. Picketers were going to agitate for the release of political prisoners back then.
By the way, the only place where mass evens can be organized in the city is the stadium in Chalyuskintsau Street. It is situated in an unfrequented area.
