Nyaklyayeu: No more house arrest!
Ex-presidential candidate Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu will have to stand trial again.
He has received a subpoena and will have to appear in Minsk Lenin District Court tomorrow, on September 9. According to the subpoena, “additional restrictions” will be imposed on him.
Nyaklyayeu has commented on the situation for Euroradio:
Nyaklyayeu: “It says: “Appear before the court for additional restrictions”. It will become clear tomorrow. If they decide to put me under house arrest again, I will not agree to it. The things I experienced in those four months at home – armed strangers feeling like home in your flat, having your whole family under arrest with you – it is not better and is more difficult than being jailed. You answer only for yourself in prison”.
Let us remind you that the ex-candidate was sentenced to 2 years of suspended restriction of liberty in May.
