IMF: Credit to Belarus is possible only in case of reforms

The IMF took into consideration that our country is interested in the new credit program. However, potential creditors set a condition that the Belarusian authorities should be ready for radical reforms, informs interfax.by.

In the opinion of the IMF board of directors, after stabilization of the Belarusian economy in the first half of 2012 there happened a too quick milding of financial-credit policy combined with sharp decrease of paying balance. It resulted in pressure on the currency exchange rates and inflation in the end of the year. Moreover, wages in Belarus grow faster than the labour efficiency.

The IMF also states that in Belarus "privatization does not move forward and the list of socially important goods which was expanded in 2011 and the prices for which are controlled, stays in force".

Several days ago Alyaksandr Lukashenka announced that Belarus can do it without any credits from the IMF.
