Belarusian and Russian fans are gathering near “Minsk-Arena” to commemorate the deceased hockey players of Lokomotiv. People are bringing flowers and candles.

A match of the first round of the Continental Hockey League (“Dynama”-“Lokomotiv”) had to take place here on September 8. However, the Yaroslavl team’s plane crashed on take-off. The whole team including Belarusians Ruslan Salei and Syarhei Astapchuk as well as world famous Slovak Pavol Demitra, Czechs Jan Marek , Karel Rachůnek, Josef Vašíče and many others were killed.

A requiem night dedicated to the players of Lokomotiv will take place in “Minsk-Arena” instead of the match on September 8. The Belarusian Hockey Federation has invited all the fans who have bought tickets to the match to take part in the mourning ceremony.
