EU faces humanitarian crisis
The international human rights organization Amnesty International has made such statement.
The human
rights defenders claim that the threatening situation with dozens thousand
illegal immigrants and people seeking refuge in Greece may become the reason
for the crisis.
Amnesty International underlines horrible conditions of living of the refugees,
long delays in registration of applications for refuge, and increase of
race-based violence.
The HR defenders recall the incident when a ship from Turkey with Syrian
refugees aboard was purposefully drowned by the Greek police. According to ВВС, the people had to swim to the shore. The
upheaval of attacks on migrants to Greece coincided with the growth of
popularity of the local ultra-right party "Golden Sunrise".
