EU approves sanctions against official Minsk

Maya Kocijancic, spokesperson of European Union's High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton, has informed about it.

The appeal was pronounced at March 2 EU summit in Brussels, reports BelaPAN. The EU leaders welcomed the decision of the Council of the EU to expand the list of people responsible for repressions directed against the civil community and democratic opposition and for violations of the basic human rights.

The European leaders also expressed their intention to cooperate with the Belarusian civil community and support the democratic intention of the Belarusian people.

The Council of the EU has approved the appeals, informs Interfax.by. The Council welcomed the measures taken by the Foreign Affairs Council at the end of the today’s summit – it expanded the list of people responsible for repressions directed against the civil community and democratic opposition.
