Putin grants Alexander Nevski Order to Lukashenka (video)

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has received an Alexander Nevski Order from Russian President Vladimir Putin. It happened before the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Union State in Moscow on March 3.

“You know our attitude to you very well: there would be no Union State, no single economic space and no Customs Union without your active position aimed at establishing closer Belarus-Russia relations,” Vladimir Putin said.

“My heavenly guardian will protect me even more now,” Lukashenka replied. The Belarusian leader meant Alexander Nevski, BELTA reports.

Putin decided to grant the order to Lukashenka on August 30, 2014 – the Belarusian President’s birthday. The order was granted yesterday.

According to Putin’s order, Lukashenka’s award is for ‘his great contribution into the development of traditionally friendly Russia-Belarus relations and intensification of the bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, defence and social spheres’.
