Presidential candidates will be asked to disclose their income sources

On August 6, a meeting on preparations for the elections was held in the Central Election Commission. During the meeting, the CEC head Lidziya Yarmoshyna voiced some of the details of the campaign.

Until August 21, presidential contenders are to fill in a declaration of income - theirs, of their spouses, relatives, who have a common household. This list includes parents, siblings and grandparents. Also, applicants should make public the income for the year prior to the elections, the sum is to include taxes - that is, the so-called brutto income.

If the applicant writes in the declaration they have no income, they would need to specify the source of living. It applies only to presidential candidates.

According to the chairperson of the CEC, the declaration was simplified and there appeared the right to make a mistake: changes can be made in the declaration. All declarations of candidates and relatives will be published in the newspaper Belarus Today and on the CEC website.
