Police from Stary Darohi arrest opposition activist in Minsk

Opposition politician Vyachaslau Siuchyk was today detained by the police near the Maskouski District Court in Minsk where entrepreneur Syarhey Parsyukevich is being tried. Siuchyk managed to tell his friends that he was arrested by the police officers from the town of Stary Darohi in the Minsk region.  The politician today refused to turn up at the Stary Darohi's police station, because the subpoena did not mention why he was called. The policemen had to arrive in Minsk themselves.

Belapan reports that Siuchyk's could be summoned over the April 19 action when opposition activists installed a cross in the village of Drazhna, Stary Darohi district to commemorate the local residents killed by the Soviet partisans in 1943.

Over 30 people, including the residents of the village and the witnesses of the tragedy, took part in the action. The local authorities tried to disrupt the action, but they failed.
