Police deploy civilian vehicles to monitor roads

The traffic police in Minsk routinely deploys officers in civilian vehicles to monitor the violations of moving rules, according to the statement from the Minsk Traffic Police Department.
Traffic police spokeswoman Zhana Traino said in an interview with the European Radio for Belarus that the measure is used primarily to identify those who violate speed limits. Officers also use cameras to fis other violations like moving on the red light or not stopping on pedestrian crossings.

Zhana Traino: "This is not an experiment. This is a routine work of traffic inspectors who are allowed to use both marked and civilian vehicles in order to carry out their duties. At least three civilian vehicles are deployed on weekends to monitor order on the main roads of the capital".
