Paznyak: I am not guided by KGB

Euroradio: Could you expect such an outcry over your interview where you slammed the opposition?

Zyanon Paznyak: I am a man who is independent of journalists. But there must be a man who tells the truth, otherwise the truth disappears. They are lamenting, because I have revealed the truth which is obvious and the facts are justified. Let them lament?! Nothing will help them, because they are totally finished - they are completely bankrupt! Leave alone what a big harm they have caused to Belarus. This regime must be swept away together with its opposition. And it will be swept away together with all these corrupt people who sold Belarus, politics, the Popular Front and even Europe, the latter having injected so many millions. These people have stolen and misued everything, so Europe had to turn away from them. They are the processed by-product.

Euroradio: You are calling for the opposition to quit politics. Who will replace them? Where will new people come from?

Zyanon Paznyak: Exactly, nobody will join them, because they stink. But people are there, because Belarus keeps on, Belarus is alive! People supported the boycott [of parliamentary election]. And whose ideas did people back? Not theirs! People have backed my ideas, our ideas, because we have worked for 10 years. And the people of Belarus made it clear: they do not support this regime, they do not believe this regime. Hence this is the result!

Euroradio: Why have you spoken out now, why not yesterday?

Zyanon Paznyak: That has been said from the very beginning as soon as the pseudo-opposition was created in late 1999 when Wiek appeared on the scene. Everything was pronounced, everything was published - even books. That's not something new, but media have turned to this topic, because society is changing. The boycott showed that people of Belarus do not support them, they support our ideas. That's because we don't label our people a "shot of vodka and a slice of lard"; we don't call our people "dumb". We look at our people in a different way, we put hopes on our society. But these people [opposition] have exhausted their resource. They would always keep supporting the regime; they would always call on people to take part in elections - something they should have never gone to. In 2004 when Lukashenka set up a referendum about his eternal power, it was a crime to suppor those election and the referendum. But the opposition came up with a slogan: "Go to the polls to say No". They would try their best to make people come to the referendum, because their task was to make people come to vote. The falsification machine would do their job later. Who made this eternal president? It was them and they bear responsibility for this dictatorship.

Euroradio: Don't you think that the information about $4.5 million that Tell the Truth campaign had allegedly received for the 2010 presidential election was deliberately thrown in by KGB in order to use you in fighting the opposition?

Zyanon Paznyak: In 1990s I had district officials from regions coming to me to share the terrible situation: they found out KGB had compromising materials on them, on every bureaucrat! If anything, they would be blackmailed. This is the essence of the regime. Therefore, this regime has support base. As soon as something goes wrong, all of them will turn away. So when these people can protect themselves and give out some information, they try to do so. Servants sell their master off in the first turn. And they have already started selling him.

I recall the 1994 presidential campaign when Lukashenka's camp was run by Bulakhau, Liabedzka, Hanchar, Sinitsyn.. and Fiaduta. In fact, FIadut send his envoys to me on two or three occasions, trying to pass a compromising file on Lukashenka. He did not know who would be the president, so he was trying to play for the both sides. I refused to talk to him, because whatever I needed to know about Lukashenka I knew without his assistance. This way I am trying to show the mindset of these people who decided to join the opposition! They sold themselves one hundred times before. Now they are lamenting! Of course, they will stand on their head to prove that KGB throws information in and Paznyak has not figured the truth out...

Euroradio: ...Paznyak has lost touch of reality while in emigration...

Zyanon Paznyak: I have not! All I am saying is that all of my political initiatives are coming true. I have not lost touch of reality - I kept talking about the boycott ten years ago! The same is about the Russian policy [towards Belarus], the same about the Western policy, about the double standards. They [opposition - Euroradio] has seen it for themselves now. After that, Europe has thrown them away. Why? Because Europe has realized that it makes no sense any more: they keep stealing the money. And who was the first to pronounce it? Aliaksandr Fiaduta! He talks about $24 million - he wrote it all himself! That's why all this lamenting is now on... They should better keep silence and resign - their time is ending!

Euroradio: Perhaps, Zyanon Paznyak got offended by Tell the Truth after they launched a campaign to defend Kurapaty? Kurapaty is something Paznyak started as a politician from?

Zyanon Paznyak: We know who we are dealing with. We know what Kurapaty is about. I would prefer such defenders as Dzmitryieu to keep silence! We know how this kind of defense works. As soon as there is a complicated issue with Kurapaty or there is an attack on Kurapaty, KGB immediately begins creating its front organizations to defend Kurapaty. KGB immediately begins sending out their agents who agitate for Kurapaty in order to come out forward and give out commentaries. This is the same technique we passed back in 2001 when they were building a highway through Kurapaty. The highway was forgotten, but Kurapaty has remained, and all those organizations have lost. After that, all those "defenders" evaporated. Only one agent was left behind - Kuzniatsou. But he has failed now as well.
