The third folk festival “Kamyanitsa” was organized in the National Architecture and Life Museum on September 3. The concert was started by the band “Hostsitsa” at 1 p.m. About 2 thousand people greeted them. Even the drizzle did not scare the viewers away. However, the sound producer’s stand got wet and the sound… disappeared in the middle of “Stary Olsa”’s performance.

The band “Vetah” organized a spontaneous acoustic concert during the repairs which took almost an hour.

Somebody used the pause to buy beer or to have a snack. The queues were incredibly long. Even if you were lucky enough o find a vacant seat in a café and a waitress, you had to wait for more than an hour. Nobody was surprised about having to spend an hour in a queue to buy beer either. Probably, it was the main drawback of the festival. According to Syarhei Charhinets, coordinator of the festival, more than 7 thousand people attended the event. However, the director of the museum mentioned a smaller number.

"That’s together with the invited people and with children who did not have to pay the entrance fee. There were many of them as a lot of families arrived – there were more than 4 thousand people, said Svyatlana Lakotka, director of the museum. – We raised 33.5 millions. Part of the money will be spent on repairs. We will need to buy materials to finish this or that restoration”.

“Hoha Band” started their performance after the new stand had been delivered.

"It was rather difficult to perform after such a long break, - confessed the leader of “Hoha Band”, Masha Yar. – Moreover, it was after “Stary Olsa”. It was rather scary to perform because I thought that we could not be perceived right from the start. However, the audience was ready for something new because the pause was a little too long. People started dancing and I think we reached the main goal – people started dancing”.

In fact, the viewers were having a good time during all the performances, even with “Alyaksandra and Kanstantsin” who did not really fit in the festival format. Naturally, Oleg Skripka’s performance was a real dance culmination at the festival “Kamyanitsa”. He was also a DJ and was spinning music he called “Ethno-disco”.

"That’s great for me to present my music and a few cover versions of other musicians at a concert with “Vopli Vidoplyasova”, - said Oleg Skripka commenting on his new programme. – I can demonstrate a great variety of music and my opinion about the today’s musical world. The music I spin at a disco is my phantasm. I wish the music could be spun everywhere but it is only used in my programme. I am happy to visit Belarus because one fifth of the programme consists of quality Belarusian tracks that really rock”.

Skipka span “Palats”, “Troitsa”, Zmitser Vaitsyushkevich and Ukrainian people’s compositions. By the way Skipka found out that his set contained “blacklisted” musicians’ songs only during the performance and was surprised. Oleg liked “Kamyanitsa” so much that he decided to organize his folk festival “Kraina Mriy” there the next year.

The festival “Kamyanista-2011” ended at about 11 p.m. and almost all the visitors left the place by bus for free. Interestingly, young people kept singing “N.R.M.”’s songs on their way to the bus stops and on the buses until they had sung almost all of the band’s hits.
