National Library pond polluted with oil

Oil spills were found in the pond near the National Library on Wednesday, February 4. Oil reached the pond from a collector, the ECM press service reports. The pollution spread to the area of one thousand square kilometers.

Communal services, hygiene and epidemiology specialists and the police started liquidating the consequences. The polluted area was blocked.

A synthetic elastomer used for waterproofing got into the pond. The norm of oil products contained in the water was exceeded by 23 times. The Investigation Committee is looking for culprits now.
