Military attaché a Belarusian spy in Poland

The Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) has collected evidence that his work exceeded the limits of his diplomatic mission, Belsat reports.

The Belarusian military attaché was detained by Internal Security Agency agents while taking photos of military objects in Bydgoszcz. The objects were part of a NATO educational centre.

The Belarusian military attaché is one of the spies that Poland revealed yesterday. The other spy was detained much earlier. The counterintelligence spotted him two years ago. He was accused of espionage and has remain in jail since then. Only a small number of people in Poland's top leadership circles were aware of the story. However, with the bill of indictment sent to court, more details have become available recently.

The problem is non-typical, that is why it has taken two years to charge the Belarusian spy with espionage. The Belarusian citizen used to cooperate with the Polish military intelligence - Military Information Service that was disbanded a few years ago. The administration of the intelligence department regarded him as a source of information in the Belarusian special services and a valuable agent who could provide information about the Belarusian Army. He received lavish rewards from Poland – up to a few hundred thousand US dollars. But he turned out to be a Belarusian intelligence agent who regularly fed misinformation to Polish military intelligence.
