Meliantsou: Belarus could reach a new level in relationship with PACE

The visit of the PACE representative Sinika Hurskeinen to Belarus is a planned one, not extraordinary, commented the political scientist Dzianis Meliantsou to the European Radio for Belarus. As our country is not a member of the Council of Europe, not even an invited member, such visits should take place periodically - to see whether there is any progress in the country. However, even this long-planned visit can change the relationship between Belarus and the Council of Europe. Everything depends greatly on the conclusions made by the PACE representative in the end of the visit.

Meliantsou: "What can we expect from this visit? Here everything depends on whether the mission makes positive or negative conclisions. In case the conclusions are positive, Belarus will have a chance to make one step further in relations with the Council of Europe. If not - our relations will remain the same".
