Maszkiewicz: Belarusian politicians approached the wrong address

The politicians, who asked Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to influence on the operation of the Poland-based radio stations (ERB and Racyja) and Belsat TV, have approached the wrong address.
Mariusz Maszkiewicz, Director of Eastern Europe Department at the Poland's Foreign Ministry, told the European Radio for Belarus that the foreign minister coould not help in this matter.

“I think the address is wrong, because the ministry does not handle radio and television stations. The minister cannot influence on the quality of the programming. They don't understand that things don't work this way", he said.

Three Belarusian politicians from the Youth Front, the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front and the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) wrote in a letter to Sikorski that the above mentioned radio stations could not compete with FM stations in Belarus. They suggested to set up a supervisory board to control the operation of the stations.
