Lukashenka speaks about Victory anniversary celebrations

On February 23, the Day of Fatherland Defenders, Alyaksandr Lukashenka handed straps to Belarusian generals. In his speech, he spoke about the anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the need to celebrate it properly and solemnly.

Lukashenka: "We have a whole series of important tasks that lie ahead in a difficult economic situation and a complex international situation. However expensive it is, we have to do it together -- Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians-- celebrate the 70 years of Victory. We need to do it in peace and harmony."

According to Lukashenka, Belarus needs to hold commemorative events at the highest level to "show the world that the great victory is our national treasure".

The President also mentioned the military exercises Union Shield-2015, which will be held this year in Russia. They must show the world "the willingness and ability to jointly ensure peace and security of our union". Alyaksandr Lukashenka stressed that Russia is our "main military ally".

Lukashenka also reminded that this year will be "the most important political campaign" - the presidential elections in Belarus. They should be held "orderly, quietly". According to the President, it is impossible to have any uncontrolled situation in the country and the destabilization of the situation. "And it depends on the military, said Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

It should be noted that on February 23 the following people received straps from Lukashenka:

Pavel Muraveyka, Igar Demidzenka, Vyachaslau Yazierski, Alyaksandr Nevyarousky became Major Generals. Viktar Syanko and Victar Dubavets became Major Generals of police. Alyaxei Volkau, Aleg Sharkou and Maxim Varonin became Major-Generals of Justice. Alyaksandr Khudaleyeu received straps of Major General of internal service, Igar Marshalau - Major-General of financial police. Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yury Senko was awarded the title of state councilor of the customs service of III rank, and Deputy Attorney General, Alyaksandr Dubau became a state councilor of justice of the 3rd class.
