Timothy Bell did not visit Belarus for public relations, he protected the interests of his friend Boris Berezovskii. An American lawyer Zeltzer had been arrested a day before Bell and Lukashenka met. According to mass media, Berezovski sent him to Belarus to take over the assets of the late Georgian oligarch Badry Patarkatsishvili.

The expert says that all Belarusian enterprises of at least some interest were sold out by Lukashenka long ago. “However, it was done secretly, the shares did not reach the exchange and the buyers are unknown. The enterprises were given away “to nourish” security agencies. Those were enterprises and the customs too”, - says the interlocutor of AFN. He thinks that a statement of one of the participants of the shady deal connected with the heritage of the Georgian oligarch Joseph Kay only proves the fact. “You know, Emmanuel (Zeltzer), it would be good if you went to Belarus now. Badry had a good business there, an oil-processing plant. It is necessary to go there as soon as possible to prove the legitimacy of Badry’s business and to decide who will continue it. $148 million was paid for the plant and it will cost a billion by the end of the year.” This is what Joseph Kay said about the conversation of Berezovskii and Zeltzer.
