Lebanese detained for people smuggling in Belarus

The police have filed criminal charges against a 58-year-old Belarus national with Lebanese roots. He is charged with illegal migration, forgery and bribery. He was arrested in November 2009 for having organized an illegal migration channel, reports Belapan. Beginning from 2006, the man used forged Schengen visas in order to smuggle 100 citizens of Lebanon, Palestine, Pakistan, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Sri-Lanka, Ghana, Nigeria, Afghanistan and people without citizenship to the European Union through Belarus.

Illegal migrant would remain in Belarus without registration or using a fake registration for residence at friends. They would later travel to EU countries using forged passports.
