Law on mass media to be discussed by House of Representatives on June 17

The bill on mass media will be given its first reading in the House of Representatives on June 17. The head of the parliamentary commission on human rights, national relations and mass media Yury Kulakouski informed BelaPAN about it.
The document was received by the House of Representatives on June 10 and was immediately included on the agenda of the current session of the lower chamber of the Parliament. The bill was discussed during a meeting of the parliamentary commission on human rights, national relations and mass media on June 10.

According to the press service of the House of Representatives, the bill will regulate the procedure of foundation and registration of mass media; eliminate gaps in the legal regulation of a number of civil relations in the field of mass information concerning the rules of financing mass media; assign the categories of information the distribution of which is forbidden or limited, cases of illegal limitation of the freedom of information distribution. The responsibility of the founder (founders) of the mass media will be increased, etc.
