Latvia introduces simplified visa regime for Belarusians

The informational portal Delfi  has informed with a reference to the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' press-center, that the decision has been taken with a consideration of the European Union's recommendations with an aim to "facilitate human contacts and strengthen civil and democratic institutions". Belarusians will not have to pay the fee when they obtain  long-term visas since January 24.  Let us remind you, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Latvian Parliament has addressed to the Latvian MFA on January 19 urging to simplify the visa regime for the citizens of Belarus and at the same time to consider the issue of imposing visa and other sanctions on the Belarusian authorities.

An identical decision has been taken by Poland. National Polish visas (long-term) are granted to the Belarusian citizens free of charge since January 1.
