IT consultant detained for 24 hours for alleged calls to extremism

The hearing of the case involving IT consultant and public activist Hleb Rubanau, who was earlier detained in Minsk, has been postponed to May 16, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Barys Haretsky wrote on his Facebook page. After a day behind bars in Akrestsina  prison, on Wednesday Rubanau was brought to the court of the Savetsky district, but the judge decided not to consider the case. The hearing was postponed.

According to Euroradio, Hleb Rubanau was detained on the night of May 7. He was lured into the courtyard of the house by the police who detained him. The activist is accused of producing and distributing informational products containing appeals to extremism. He recently took part in the #iamextremist flashmob. Its participants publish in social networks their photos with materials from the national list of extremist materials and put the #iamextremist hashtag.
