Interior ministry wants tougher laws against aclohol sales to underage

The Interior Ministry is set to push for more stringent provisions in the Administrative Code of Belarus, reports Rosbalt news agency. Amendments are likely to be introduced into the chapters that deal with penalties for the sale of alcohol to the underage. The Interior Ministry notes that the majority of crimes committed by teenagers are influenced by alcohol.

The Interior Ministry proposes to pass tougher penalties against vendors who sell alcohol to the underage and those who show up at work drunk. Proposals include among other to sentence the offenders to administrative arrests. The current laws envisage a fine of up to $160.
