Former deputy Border Guard chief's trial to open on Feb 12

The trial of Maj.-Gen. (Rt.)Yauhen Kamarnitski, the former deputy chairman of the State Border Control Committee and the head of the logistics department at the same agency, will open on February 12. The Belapan news agency reports the case will be heard publicly in the military college of Belarus's Supreme Court. The former high-ranking border guard official is accused of graft.

According to investigators from the Office of the Prosecutor General, Yauhen Kamarnitski received numerous bribes from businessmen for easing construction permits in the period from 2006 through August 2008 when he was arrested.
