Experts: Network documentary unlikely to affect relations with Germany

Piatro Sadouski, the first ambassador of independent Belarus in Germany, has described the Belarusian television's film on "German spies" as very vague. On the other hand, he is confident that the documetary film Network will not affect Belarus-German relations. "I am sure this will not affect our relations. There is a basic position, formulated by the European Union with regard to Belarus. Different from Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania, Germany is very correct, you know", Sadouski said.

At the same time, the expert noted that it was difficult for him to comment on the film, because he knew nothing about the facts, voiced in the air. He does not know H. Bedunkevich who was allegedly telling the German intelligence about Belarus's military secrets.

A staff with one of the German foundations in Belarus says that Network is a usual practice of the Belarusian television ahead of electoral campaigns. At the same time, he noted that the film was less aggressive than the first part:

"When they talk about the European Union and Germany, in particular, the Belarusian television is more cautious then when talking about the United States, their organizations and personalities that head those organizations", the staff said.

In the view of the expert, this proves that Belarus still counts on a closer cooperation with the European Union and sees it as a more adequate partner than the United States.
