Euroradio journalist wins 2015 Human Rights Award

Журналіст Еўрарадыё — пераможца “Праваабарончай прэміі 2015 года”

The national award is given by Belarusian human rights defenders annually for the achivements in the human rights field in three categories: Human Rights Defense,  Advocacy and Journalism. 

“The state has numerous awards. We are happy that civil society too has a chance to acknowledge those who stand out for their work in various fields,” noted rights defender Liudmila Hraznova at the begining of the ceremony.

Human rights lawer Valiancin Stefanovich won in the Human Rights Defense category. The Advocacy category was this year renamed into Person - this award went to Valery Shchukin. Euroradio's reporter Zmicier Lukashuk was announced the Journalist of the Year in the Field of Human Rights.

The award was founded in 2008 by the Lithuania-based Human Rights Alliance. In the previous years, the following journalists were acknolegded by human rights defenders: Siamion Pechanko, Aleh Hruzdzilovich, Uladzimir Hrydzin, Yulia Darashkevich, Andrei Pachobut, I have the Right program on Belsat TV, Alena Pankratava and website spring96.org.
