Death rate exceeds birth rate by 42% in Mahileu Region
8.6 thousand people died in Mahileu Region in January-June 2009. It is 41.8% more than the number of babies born (6 thousands). Mahileu Statistics Debarment has announced it.
The rural death rate (26 out of 1000) is 2.3 times higher that the death rate of the urban population – 11.5. Negative population growth has been observed in rural districts since 1975 and in cities – since 1995.
Nevertheless, 4% more people have been born and 2% fewer people have died this year in comparison with last year.
