Customs committee says no 200 euro restrictions for imports

Uladzimir Hoshyn, Belarus' first deputy chairman of the State Customs Committee, says there is no logic in discussing a ban on duty free imports of goods worth 200 euro by Belarus residents. All the same, this measure would be effective within only six months, Interfax news agency quotes Hoshyn as saying.

Since Belarus is expected formally to enter in the customs union with Russia and Kazakhstan from July 1, 2010, it is planned to develop a unified procedures for duty-free imports of goods within the Customs Union, including motorcars. Hoshyn reminded that from January 1, 2010 Belarus will raise customs duties for motorcars imported by legal entities.
