Civil court hearing on "live shield" scheduled for October 13

The Minsk District Court will hold a preliminary hearing of the case associated with the "live shield" on October 13. The citizens who were used as a a shield to stop a speeding driver seek compensation after their vehicles were heavily damaged and their lives put at risk by the traffic police.
In June 2008, two traffic police officers who organized the "live shield" were convicted. Plaintiffs were granted moral damages, but the material compensation was not considered during the process. .

Yury Pashkevich, one of the plaintiffs, told the European Radio for Belarus today that the parties had a meeting with the judge who appointed the date of the hearing.


According to Pashkevich, if the insurance company covers the material damages and "handles the defendants" (traffic police), the process could be finished soon.
