Central Election Commission ready for early voting

Election commissions across Belarus are totally ready for early voting which will begin on September 23. Mikalai lazavik, Secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC), said that a general rehersal of the election day was held on September 22. The CEC Information Center received two simulated reports about voters' turn-out by 10 a.m. and about the election results. The checks proved that information channels operated properly.

Interfax reminds that polling stations will be open for early voting from 1000 to 1400 and from 1600 to 1900. No official excuse for early voting will be required from voters.

During the 2004 parliamentary elections, 17.6 percent of voters took part in the early voting procedure, incuding 23 percent in Minsk.
