Book about Lukashenka’s Belarus presented in Warsaw

The historian paid attention to the creation of the Belarusian state ideology based on the history of the Great Patriotic War. David Marples focused on the Ukrainian crisis during the presentation. Belarus has an opportunity to demonstrate independent policy like it happened in the case of the non-recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia’s independence. The historian sees no reason why there should be no changes in Belarus and thinks that they may be even more unexpected than in Ukraine because there is no such corruption in Belarus and it is enough to simply order to start reforms.

Commenting on the Ukrainian issue, the expert noted that most attention would be focused on the presidential election. However, the decisive election will be the parliamentary one as forces from all over the country will be represented there. Decisions will be taken by the Parliament too.

The meeting was organized by the Information Bureau of Solidarity with Belarus.
